Hair Transplant Aftercare Guide

Hair Transplant Aftercare Guide

Haircare Academy - Hair Transplant Aftercare Month by month

A hair transplant is not finished the day the surgery is over. The treatment itself is only the first part. The result also depends on how the scalp gets rest, how you follow the washing procedure, and how you care for the area in the first few weeks. At Hairplant, we are with you all the way. The first 10-14 days are the most important.

Day 0 – Surgery Day

When the surgery is finished, the grafts have just been placed. The first few hours are about protecting the area.

  • Do not touch the transplanted area
  • Avoid scratching, rubbing, or picking
  • Keep your head elevated when resting
  • Avoid alcohol, hard physical activity

Days 1-3

The first few days the scalp is vulnerable. Swelling may begin to show.

  • Follow the clinic's instructions carefully
  • Sleep with your head elevated
  • Avoid sports, sauna, sun, and swimming
  • Avoid direct contact with the grafts

Days 4-7

Scabs become more prominent, and itching may increase. No picking!

  • Continue washing according to the guide
  • Avoid caps/hats

Days 8-14

The scabs should begin to loosen gradually through proper washing — not by picking. You will receive a washing video on day 11.

  • Avoid nails, hard friction, and aggressive products

Months 1-2

Shock loss is normal. The hairs may fall out, but the hair follicle lies under the skin and rests. This is the waiting phase.

Months 3-6

The first new hairs appear (month 3), begin to become more visible (months 4-5), and by month 6 there is a clear improvement and milestone.

Months 7-12

Density and quality improve significantly. After 12 months, the final result can usually be evaluated.
